Original state:
- Pipe head was separated from handle (pewter was melted out)
- Head had been cleaned of its original patina to a bright shine; pre-repair photo shown is after I added patina to head
- Wood was missing from the top of handle that held the pipe head in place
- Pewter mouthpiece was broke in half and pewter end cap was missing (melted away with a torch)
My repair included:
- Re-created original patina on pipe head
- Replaced wood at the top of the handle to fit the head tightly to the handle
- Repoured pewter end cap
- Formed and poured pewter mouthpiece
- Replaced all engraving on pewter mouthpiece
- Added original looking patina to end cap and mouthpiece in the form of dings, file marks, scratches and wear marks
