Micmac Indians Pipestone Pipe
- Traditional Micmac Indian styled pipe made from black steatite
- Pipe was hand drilled and shaped to resemble an original from a musuem collection
- The keel of the pipe is pierced with three holes often used for suspending the pipe around the user’s neck
- Each side of the pipe is decorated with different hand carved geometrical designs
- On top of the keel, on both ends, is a turtle effigy (not shown) to symbolize a totem
- The stem of the pipe was hand made from box elder, known for its soft center pith
- At the end of the stem is a spiraled mouth piece, lending itself well for smoking
- The rest of the stem is decorated with red dyed deer hair with red and white trade beads suspended from a drop that end with a brass trade bell and light blue silk ribbon
- The center of the stem is finished off with a burned spiral design
- The pipe has a great hand finished patina typical of Eastern Woodland Native American pipe
